Drawing . . . . . .

072809_001

This is the latest home I’ve been drawing.  It’s almost done.  Just a little to go.  ■  Finished a drawing last week and the customer said the people loved it – it was a wedding gift.  It’s always good to hear that people really like the drawings.  ■  Worked a bit on the www.RockHeartPhotography.com website.  Reduced the size of some of the pictures on the portfolio page so that it would load much more quickly.  ■  We have our annual Bullfrog pool party this weekend.  It should be a lot of fun and I know I’m expected to bring smoked salmon.  ■  I still have to do some recording.  Not only my own compositions, but also some stuff for the band.  I think I’ll do it on my iPhone as I think I have the recording stuff figured out.  I wonder if I could post any of it on the blog?  Anyone interested?  ■  Time for bed.  ‘night.  ■

Smokin’ some salmon . . . delicious!

072309_002

I just finished smoking some salmon to take with us to Louisville.  If you’ve never had smoked salmon right off the smoker you’re missing something great!  Delicious!  ■  I’ve been watching David at work play a square-neck dobro.  It sounds so sweet.  I think I may have to get one.  ■

Done with one drawing and now on to another . . .

Finished the drawing on the left on Tuesday night.  It’s a wedding present that the customer is giving to the bride and groom of their new home.  They’ll love it.  ■  Got to run to work in a couple of minutes.  My hours on Thursdays have changed.  ■  And I’ve got salmon to smoke after I get home from work.  Things are busy, busy, busy . . . . . .

Drawings and a cat . . . . . .

072009_001

. . . so our neighbors went to Scotland for their daughter’s wedding and have left me in charge of their cat.  It’s not really their cat, it’s their other daughter’s cat.  Anyway, they warned me that the cat wouldn’t come near me and probably wouldn’t even come out of hiding when I was there to feed it – and definitely wouldn’t let me pet it.  Now I’m not a cat person, but every time I’ve been over there (twice a day) the cat has not only greeted me, but let me pet it while it was eating.  Am I a cat person now?  I took the picture of the cat food box ‘cause I think I’ll need to get another box of it.  I’m not sure that what’s left in that one will make it to the end of the week.  And with that picture on my iphone I can go to the grocery store and make sure I get the right stuff.  ■  I just got orders for 2 drawings.  That’s good ‘cause business this year has been in the dumpster.  ■  Time for bed.  ‘Night.  ■

Where does the time go?

071509_001

Busy this week.  Today I helped design and get a website up for my good friend and our band’s photographer Terry.  (www.RockHeartPhotography.com)  Check it out.  ■  The band practiced tonight and started writing a song.  I recorded part of it on my iphone – and successfully got it off the iphone and onto my pc!  Yeah.  ■  Work tomorrow, Friday, and Saturday.  I can use the hours and money.  ■

A musical weekend . . . . .

071109_001

Last night (Friday night) we went to see a friend’s band open up for Pure Prairie League.  They’re the band with the hit song “Amie” back in 1972.  The band’s vocals are great – the harmonies wonderful.  A good band and well worth seeing.  ■  Tonight our band has a gig in Powers Lake, Wisconsin at a bar called “Sit ‘n’ Bull.”  It should be a good time.  ■

Recording . . and wifi . . . can it be that difficult?

070909_001

It’s been a busy week.  And I thought life was supposed to slow down as you aged . . . !  ■  I started and finished a drawing this week for our next-door-neighbor.  I just have to frame it.  ■  Recording:  I have this 4-track recording application on my iphone.  Everything works fine except the transfer of the tracks to a pc.  I’m having problems with that.  And if I can’t transfer the tracks then it’s a useless app.  More investigation is needed.  Another problem to solve!  ■  Tomorrow night we go to see Pure Prairie League play.  The only song I can think of that I know they’ve done is “Aimee.”  Anyway, out for dinner and some music.  ■

Back from Kentucky . . . and giggin’ again . . . . .

070509_001

Had a great time seeing our daughter and Jay down in Louisville.  They’ve got a great house in a great neighborhood.  We’ll be back down there later this month for a housewarming party.  ■  Had a smooth drive back – not too much traffic and I even got in a couple of hours of sleep while Holly drove.  But, I’m tired and need to slip into bed soon.  ■  Had a gig tonight.  It was fun – and that’s a picture of the place above.  When we broke into our “country song” a fight broke out.  I don’t think it had anything to do with the country song, but I’m thinking maybe we shouldn’t play it again at this venue.  ■  It’s time for bed.  I’ll catch up tomorrow with all the news.  ‘night!

Busy . . . sorry for no posts . . . . .

070109_001 Sorry for not posting for awhile.  We’ve been very busy for the past few days.  ■  We’ve had company from down South; gone to Chicago to “Taste of Chicago”; finished a couple of drawings; and gone to Park Ridge for a Kalo Foundation meeting.  And in-and-amongst-that done stuff around the house.  ■  I was looking at the drawings I’ve done since the book of drawings that I published some time ago.  That book had something like 80 drawings in it.  Right now I’ve only got about 40, or so.  Business has been slow!  I’d like to publish another book this fall.  I’ve got to get busy.  ■  The band practiced tonight – finally.  It’s been quite awhile.  We’ve got a gig this Sunday and have prepared a couple of new songs for it.  And we’re working on a few more.  ■  And the band has to get together and do some recording.  Which reminds me that I have to do some recording this weekend.  I’ve got to work out an arrangement on a song for the band.  ■  Oh, and I didn’t know it earlier, but Happy Birthday, Ellyn!
